Paver installation

Patios, driveways, walkways and pool decks built for Northeast Florida soil. The part you see is the paver. The part that decides whether it still looks right in five years is the base underneath it, and that's the part we don't shortcut.

Scope

What's included

Every line below is in the written estimate. If something isn't on the list for your yard, we say so before you sign rather than after we start.

  • Layout painted on the ground and approved before we dig
  • Excavation to depth and haul-off of spoil
  • 6" compacted crushed concrete base, compacted in lifts
  • Woven geotextile fabric over sandy subgrade
  • 1" screeded bedding course
  • Paver install, cuts made with a wet saw
  • Concrete or hidden edge restraint, spiked at 12"
  • Polymeric sand, swept and set
  • Surface drainage or French drain where grade requires it
  • Final clean and a walk of the finished work

The difference

What makes our base work different.

6 inches, compacted in lifts

A lot of local installs run 3–4" dumped in one pass. We place crushed concrete in 2–3" lifts and compact each one, so the base is dense the whole way down instead of only at the top.

Fabric over sandy subgrade

Northeast Florida sand migrates up into an unseparated base and hollows it out. Woven geotextile keeps the base and the subgrade from mixing, which is what stops the slow dishing you see in older patios.

Grade solved, not ignored

We shoot the grade before pricing. If water runs toward the house or pools at a fence line, drainage goes in the estimate as a line item — we don't pave over a water problem and let you find it in July.

FAQ

Questions we get every week

How much does a paver patio cost in Jacksonville FL?

Most patios we build land between $18 and $30 per square foot installed. A simple 300 sq ft rectangle in a standard holland paver runs about $5,500–$7,500. A 1,000 sq ft patio with a border course, seating wall and lighting is typically $22,000–$32,000. Drainage work, demo of an existing slab and premium paver lines move the number.

How long does a paver patio installation take?

A straightforward 300–500 sq ft patio is 3–5 working days. Add a pergola, drainage or a wall and it becomes 8–14 days. We give you a working-day count in the estimate, not a vague window, and one crew stays on your job start to finish.

Do pavers sink or shift in Florida sand?

They do when the base is wrong. Sandy subgrade with a high water table will not hold a thin base, and a slab poured on sand with no base is the most common thing we tear out. We excavate to depth, lay woven fabric, and compact 6" of crushed concrete in lifts — that's what keeps the field flat five years in.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval for a paver patio?

HOA approval is required in most Nocatee, Sawgrass and World Golf Village communities, and we'll give you the drawing and material spec sheet the architectural review board asks for. Permits depend on the jurisdiction and whether you're changing drainage or adding a structure; we tell you which applies before you sign.

What maintenance do pavers need?

Rinse them, pull weeds from joints once or twice a year, and re-sand the joints every 3–5 years. Sealing is optional in Florida — it deepens color and slows organic staining under oaks, but a well-installed paver field does not need it to last.
